Request a change to a Google result

Know the difference between removing a result and removing its source.

Identify the page and information

Save the exact page address and identify the personal information at issue. Google offers request processes for some types of private information; eligibility depends on the content and circumstances.

Use the official request route

Start from Google’s current help pages rather than an old screenshot. Its “Results about you” feature can help find and request removal of certain personal contact information. Follow the questions shown for your situation.

Check the source separately

Removing a result from Google does not delete the original webpage. Contact the website operator where appropriate, and check whether the content has actually changed. If the source changed but a result is stale, Google also provides a refresh process.
